Will We Win Or Fail ?

Will We Win Or Fail ?
When we will be asked about our youth?
Will we say the things we done truth?
Will our diplomas and degrees come in use?
Or will they bring us bad news?
We blanked Islam for education- and got in to the non-Islamic generation.
The friends we trusted- with whom we had fun, stopped us from entering the gates of heaven.
The requirements are simple, the reward is high - be prepared, think well before you die.
A garden of paradise or a pit of hell- the choice is yours!
So think well!
Sacrifice your short journey here- for in the hereafter you will have no fear.
Two shoes of boiling fire he will wear- his brain will melt, his body will tear.
The person will scream and will not know- this is only the lowest punishment, Allah will give.
Day by day as our life decreases- day by day as our sins increase.
Day by day as our deeds change into sins- another day the shaytan wins.
For on that day when we will be scaled!
Think-................will we win or will we fail?

The Injustice to Abu Shahma - Brother Farrukh

Assalam alaikum,
Abu Shahma was a son of Umar. He fought in the battles in Egypt andwhich he built a house for himself in Fustat.
One day in the company of a friend he inadvertently drank wine andbecame unconscious. The following day he went with his friend to Amrbin Al Aas (the Govenor of the region) where they confessed theirguilt, and wanted to be punished. Amr bin Al Aas said that as they haddrunk the wine inadvertently, and were feeling repentant, that was enough and no further punishment was called for.
Abu Shahma did not wish to avail of the benefit of inadvertence. Heinsisted that he should be punished according to law, failing whichhe would bring the matter to the notice of the Caliph (at that time, his father). Thereupon Arm bin Al Aas inflicted the usual punishmentof lashes in the privacy of his house. Abu Shahma's head was also shaved off in the house of the Governor.

The incident was reported to Caliph Umar who wrote a letter to Amr which read:
"O Amr bin Al Aas it has come to my notice that you have been derelictin the performance of your duty. You have shown undue favor to AbuShahma by awarding him punishment in your house rather than at apublic place. You were apparently moved by the consideration that heis my son. You should know that in such matters I cannot tolerate anyconcession to a person on the ground that he is related to me. As soon as you get this letter send Abu Shahma to Medina on a naked camel."
Amr bin Al Aas complied with the instructions and dispatched AbuShahma to Madina. En route Abu Shahma fell sick and when he reachedMadina he could hardly walk.

Umar was furious, and he ordered that Abu Shahma should be lashed inpublic. However, another companion, Abdul Rahman ibn Auf pleaded thatthe boy had already been lashed in Egypt and no further punishment wascalled for.

Umar brushed aside these pleadings and Abu Shahma was floggedpublicly. Abu Shahma could not withstand the ordeal and due to hisweakened condition because of his illness he fell senseless after afew stripes had been inflicted. He remained in a state of agony for afew days and then died.

NB The significance of the 'naked camel' was to ensure that his
journey to Madina was uncomfortable. There is in the Quran no specific punishment for drinking alcohol. Norin the sunnah of the Prophet is there a specific punishment. This isproven by the fact that during the time of Caliph Abu Bakr, if a drunken person was prosecuted they would be punished with 40 stripes of a whip. But during the time of Caliph Umar, the punishment was 80 stripes. Had the Sunnah of the Prophet included a specific punishment for becoming drunk, both Abu Bakr and Umar would have applied that. However, what is shown is that they engaged in ijtehad and came to the conclusions they had, and Allah knows best.
In the case of Caliph Umar and his son, the Caliph was partly motivated by whisperings amongst the people who started to question whether his son would recieve favourable treatment or not. The fact that Amr ibn al Aas had already punished Abu Shahma was irrelevant. The fact that Abu Shahma was ill was also irrelevant. At a time when the Muslim community was still young and growing, any perception of injustice would weaken its efforts. What choice did he have? Do nothing, these whisperings amongst people increase, instability sets in, and the integrity of Islam is compromised. Do something, and hiss on, already punished in private, is punished yet again (i.e. twice),but this time in public.

Right or wrong, Allah knows best. What we do know is that a father saw his son die through an action which he himself inflicted, not so muchfor the crime of being drunk itself, more in an effort to show thateveryone who commits a crime will be treated with the same level ofjustice in an attempt to keep the Muslim community strong.
May Allah Almighty have mercy and forgive us our sins, our errors/misjudgments and our deliberate wrongs, ameen.

Media's silent act but what about us?? - Sis Riffat Ara

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Did you know?

Did you know about the devastating incident that had taken place in Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday, December 22, 2005 at 10:30 p.m.? The community Masjid, called Clifton Mosque, was bombed. But Alhumdulillah, nobody was hurt. There were five pipe bombs installed around the Mosque, two of which got exploded. It is estimated that it will take around $30,000 for the damages to be fixed. No information are found about who might be responsibe for this terrorist attack. FBI is still investigating.

Okay, imagine a normal day, you wake up healthy in the morning...alhumdulillah. You pray Fajr, you thank Allah for yet another day in your life... then, you plan the day with the knowledge that everything may not turn out the way you planned. You remember Allah, go on with your normal daily activities and you hope for the best. But when an unexpected event like this takes place and a normal day does not end as a normal day rather ends with a devastating event, how would you feel? In addition, at a time like this, with the latest technology, any event from any where can reach to anyone around the world within minutes, however, many events like this happen around the world that media do not spread. You would atleast expect that the news will reach to so many people. It wasn't even aired on network Television profusely. As a result, people from other states of America, people who watch TV news regularly or read newspaper daily, were not aware of an event as such. It did appear in newspapers of Ohio, but appeared in a short feature with small title that does not attract readers attention immediately.

One keeps wondering...

How come not that many people know about it?

How come it wasn't on the media profusely?

An incident like this caused non-stop questions, whispers around that city, but then, how did the news NOT spread?

Countless of devastating events around the world go unheard. We hear or see only those news in the media that people behind the scenes want every one to see. It's selected as to which news will be aired profusely and which will go almost unnoticed.

A question that rises naturally in our minds is that if this event had taken place elsewhere other than a Masjid, would the media act this silently?

Okay, that's about the media. What about its audience? How would the audience react? Let's just think for a minute that the media did not act silently towards this event, what do we see next? -- hmmm.. there will be some silent audience who will only let a sigh out; there will be some audience who will be fearful to even talk about it, there will be some audience who will try to inform as many people as they can, some will keep talking about it with some assumptions and then, there will be those who will actually do more. So, with media's silent act, there wasn't even a chance to reach to THOSE FEW who would not be the silent audience.

A masjid where a large number of people gather every year for Eid, every week for Jumu'ah, every day for daily prayers was bombed. The entire Muslim community of that city is devastated. May be muslims from other coummunities would have stood next to them now, ONLY had they known. But...

What are you going to do dear brothers and sisters? Now that you have been informed, it's you who will choose your next step.
Jazakallah for reading.

May Allah(swt) have His mercy on all of us! Ameen!
